It’s 6:45am and I’m half awake, sipping coffee, dreading my next steps. I’ve been up for about 45 minutes. I’m not a morning person. This week I have to run early in the mornings because I’m not free any other time. I hate mornings. But, I remember the cause I’m running for and I pursue.
I saw the Pogues last night at the Electric Factory. Dinko and I were crazy enough to venture out into the snow and ice storm to see them. The last time we saw them was at Friju Briju in Zagreb in 1998. They put on a fantastic show. We had a great time despite the numerous fights that broke out around us.
Shane was his usual slurring self. Cigarette and alcohol in one hand, microphone in the other. The only difference is that he sang from a wheelchair. A couple gigs earlier he fell on stage and broke his knee, but he still rocked out.
Today I ran 6 miles. The last time I ran that far was in September last year. It was beautiful running weather — light breeze, 50s, mostly sunny. The only trouble I had was getting warmed up and the sunshine in my eyes on the way back. I need to get a visor to protect the eyes 🙂 But, I ran the 6 miles in 62 minutes!!! Super fast for me. That’s just over 10 minutes per mile.
To see why I’m running, check out my Team in Training site.
With only four weeks left until the wedding, and with one of those weeks reserved for the IA Summit, we are getting down to the wire on all the planning. Things are going nicely. Thanks to Livia’s advice, I have created a fantastic personal to-do and project list that is really helping me get things done this weekend. It will be the most productive I’ve been in a long time 🙂
